We have received the following Consultation Notice from Shropshire Council's Highways Department.

Astley Parish Council is in full support of the proposal and was consulted on this matter back in the Spring when it was discussed at the Parish Council meeting in May. Comments were submitted at that time and have now been resubmitted to confirm the position i.e. all speed signs should be mandatory and not simply recommended speed limits. (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2006 (AMENDMENT NO. ) ORDER

Shropshire Council proposes to introduce a 50mph speed limit onto the following length of road in Shrewsbury:

That length of the A53 from a point 36 metres northeast of its junction with the A49 Battlefield Roundabout to a point 92 metres north of the northernmost property boundary of “The Bings”.

Any existing speed limits on this length of road will be revoked.

A set of documents relating to these proposals may be inspected at Shrewsbury Library, Castle Gates, Shrewsbury.
